“RHAPSODY IN BRASS” with guest trombonist Jeremy Borthwick @ Lake Macquarie Performing Arts Centre

CNL Brass will present several well known rhapsodies, including Gershwin’s popular Rhapsody in Blue.

Guest trombonist Jeremy Borthwick will feature in Rhapsody for Trombone and Brass Band.

Rhapsody in Brass, the title for the concert, will also be included, together with a variety of other numbers of popular appeal.

CNL Brass will present a variety program. Featuring music from the fifties and sixties with a distinct rock and roll theme. Music from The Beatles, Queen, The Eagles and other popular numbers will also be performed.

Special Guests: Newcastle 50’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Dance Club members will feature on stage in several numbers to “create the mood”.

East Coast of Australia Brass and Concert Band Championships and the Festival of the Bands Entertainment Contest @ Newcastle City Hall

East Coast of Australia Brass and Concert Band Championships and the Festival of the Bands Entertainment Contest, including the Hunter Regional Band Championships. This event is organised by the Hunter Regional Band Association.

CNL Brass will compete in the morning’s Formal “East Coast” Section 1 for A and B Grade Brass Bands, presenting a Hymn and an Own Choice Item. CNL Brass will compete in Division 1 (for both A and B Grade Brass and Concert Bands) of the afternoon’s Festival of the Bands and present an entertainment program. Members of the community are welcome to attend both morning and afternoon. Ten bands will participate.

TwoOfAKindFlyerCNL Brass will be joined by guest band Tamworth RSL Brass Band to present Two of a Kind-The Brass Kind!  The bands will each present a concert program in the first half and will combine to present the second half of the program.  Each half will be approximately one (1) hour.

Each Band first plays the Hymn and Test. CNL Brass is Band No 1

“Christmas in Brass” Concert @ Cardiff Senior Citizens Centre

There will be a fifteen minute interval but unfortunately due to COVID-19 restrictions, no catering will be provided.

Cory Brass Band, the World’s No 1 Brass Band, is promoting its world-wide Online Brass Band Championships with a Championships Section and Sections 1 to 4. Each competing band is required to send an audio/visual recording of three numbers recorded in a specified time. CNL Brass is one of three Australian Bands to enter. It is competing in Section 3. There are ten bands in this Section.

CNL brass recorded its entry on Wednesday 2 September in its rehearsal hall, observing social distancing (a requirement). The numbers chosen were:

Sons of the Soil (a March), The Cossack Patrol and John Farnham’s hit You’re the Voice.

Section 3 will be judged by Cory Band personnel on Friday 18 September from 5pm British Standard Time (2am Saturday 19th September Australian Eastern Standard Time). The section will also be live streamed if any of our supporters wish to follow along.
