Christmas in Brass Concert: Sunday 13th December 2015

LAKE MACQUARIE PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE, WARNERS BAY

P1010977

CNL Brass, conducted by David Thompson, entertain

It was a joyful occasion, with a selection of traditional Christmas Carols and Christmas Tunes delighting the audience of about one hundred, many of whom were regulars and Friends of CNL Brass. In all, twenty-one numbers were presented.

The Concert opened with Christmas Day, the third movement from An Australian Christmas, written by Australian composer William James. The audience became an impromptu choir, singing along to the numbers Silent Night, Away in a Manger, Hark the Herald Angels Sing and concluding the first half “in song” with a rousing Jingle Bells.

The second half continued with the very lively Christmas Crackers. The audience featured again, adding voice to The First Noel and Deck the Halls. The John Lennon and Yoko Ono composition Happy Christmas (War is Over) was a popular inclusion.

The final number provided the opportunity for band members to convey a message of goodwill to our audience with We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
